in cash now and, as a result, choose the million dollars. However, by doing so, they would have just cheated themselves out of close to $10 million!

This story illustrates the power of multiplication, and also a problem with today’s Church. The population multiplies, while the Church merely adds, and addition is always surpassed by multiplication. The “Church to Population” ratio is declining. In 1900, there were 27 churches per 10,000 people.  In 1950, there were 17 churches per 10,000 people. And in 1987, there were 12 churches per 10,000 people. The population in our state is now growing at a more rapid rate than in years past, and some areas are towards the top in terms of growth rate as compared to the rest of the midwestern states. The need to plant, nurture, and grow churches today is becoming critically important to meet these changes.
